Keeping it short and sweet today.
Asking you to keep it simple, and savor more simplicity in your life this weekend.
Go for a walk outside and spend time in nature instead of hitting the gym or plopping down in front of the television.
Taste your food. Instead of blending up that fruit and vegetable smoothie. Enjoy the juicy fruit and crunchy vegetable whole.
Pause calculating the years, months, days hours until you can leave your job and be grateful for what your job provides you with this moment.
Read a real book. Use a real deck of cards to play solitaire.
Do a push-up and 10 air-squats. Or 5 and 20.
Talk to your partner, family, or friend face-to-face.
Smile.
Dream.
Tell someone you love them.
Let someone love you.
Say please and thank you.
Sleep in.
Soak in the tub.
Laugh with your child.
Breathe.
K.I.S.S. More – Keep it Simple, Savor more
And Kiss more too!
What will you do?
I am guilty of counting days left before I can leave my job. How can I not do that? That is what keeps me from exploding when stuff at work irritates me.
I hear you BusyMom. I was there and often did the same. I found though that sometimes I needed to remember to be grateful for what the job provided. It would right me for a few days. The benefits of the job – pay – will get you where you want to be eventually.
It happens to be a rainy day. A couple of friends are coming over this afternoon and they always enjoy just hanging. Time slows down somehow.
I like your idea of using a “real” deck of cards. Somehow, those old-fashioned board games with a vinyl album brings more joy than online solitaire with something streaming on Pandora. Thanks for the spark.
Sometimes those days are the best. Cozy inside with good friends, talk and laughs. Although a good dance in the rain might be nice too! Enjoy!
We met Vicki and Jeff this past lazy, rainy Saturday. It was lots of fun. We hardly looked at the time and when we returned home I took a nap!
Sounds like a great way to spend the day, Mrs. G. Connecting with others and allowing yourself to rest. I’m sure it was much needed as you prepare for the big move!
Great weekend (and life) advice. We can all use this reminder once and awhile. Enjoy your weekend!
Yes, I needed to remind myself too. 🙂 Thanks Doc, have a great one yourself!
Love it Amy. Is 10 burpees okay? I like the painful stuff 🙂
Sounds awesome AF! GO!
Such a lovely reminder about what life is really all about!
Baby hugs are the best, get lots and lots of those. 🙂
Again, much needed advice! Especially heading into the weekend. Thanks, Amy. 🙂
I got you! 😉
This is wonderful. I finished a huge two-year project yesterday, with lots of unhealthy behavior at the end to get over the finish line, and am ready for a reset. I thought about going to the gym and having a smoothie, but I’m going to have real fruit and walk to the library instead. Fortunately, my kids love playing with real cards (does Uno count?).
Phew glad the project is over for you then. Congrats on getting it finished! Love it and yes, Uno with the kids counts and sounds great. 🙂

<<< just the thought I needed… I've been one blogging-related thing or the other since 9a… I think I might just shut my laptop now and eat the muffins I made last weekend… it's a nice rainy day… keeping it simple is certainly a goal for when I leave the workforce but I can try to enjoy some of that now. Thanks for the reminder!
Listen to the sound of the rain and savor the muffin. Sounds like a good plan!
Thank you for the reminder of what life is about 🙂 The simple moments 🙂
You’re welcome. Thanks for reading. 🙂
A great reminder 🙂 Thank you Amy!
(I recently taught our 6yo son to play solitaire with real cards, he absolutely loves it)
That’s so great, Jim. I’ve so many memories of playing solitaire alongside my mom. Thanks for stopping by!
My wife and I like to climb this hill near the city. From it you can see the entire city. It’s so nice, quiet, and calm up there, while you can see the hustle and bustle of the city from afar.
Sounds great, Troy! I bet it’s nice to hike up there both during the day and at night with the lights.
Great post, and great reminder about what’s truly important. Just looked at my retirement countdown (57 Days), I promise I won’t look at it again until Monday!
You’re almost under 50 now! And no more travel Sunday’s woot woot!
Amy, you’re a peach! This weekend I had a PBR in a dive bar, met an adorable dog called Rambo in the park, and read a real live hardcover book about the Apollo 8 mission to the moon. KISS at its finest.
Sounds magnificent Mr. G! Thanks for sharing! P.S. I’m at least 1/2 peach anyway…daddy was from Georgia. 🙂
KISS is much more doable… just moments ago, I was browsing another financial blog where it talked about the power of compound interest… and thought to myself (and commented on the post) …. if somebody would double my money every other day, in 28 days, the end result would be 1 million USD…
Think simple yet dream big! 🙂
If only we could get somebody to double our money. 🙂 I’ve got a post titled almost exactly that. Thanks for stopping by!
I’ve started to go for a 5 minute walk after every hour of work. This allows me to clear my mind and work more efficiently when I am actually working.
Awesome! I used to go for a 10 min. walk every 2 hours or so when I was working. It does do wonders!
