Year after year, people make at least one of these most popular new years resolutions listed below. But more than 80% of the good intentions made for the new year will be forgotten by the end of January. And yes, I know this from experience not just because I read it somewhere else.
- Lose Weight and Get Fit
- Learn Something New
- Eat Healthier and Diet
- Get Out of Debt and Save Money
- Spend More Time with Family
- Travel to New Places
- Be Less Stressed
- Volunteer/Help Others
- Get Organized
- Quit Bad Habits – Drinking, Smoking, Drugs, Etc.
To create change in any of these areas, we must do more than make wishes and think positive thoughts, although that helps too. Among other things, achieving lasting transformation requires determination, adaptability, knowledge, resources, support, good habits, and systems.
While all the work is up to you, I’m striving to help you find resources and increase your knowledge. I’ll offer you support, encouragement, and information to aid you in developing good habits and working systems, to make desired changes in your life. So you won’t have to make the same resolutions again and again.
Below I’ve listed my more popular posts from this year that tackle many of the resolutions on the list above. I hope they’ll help you. If there is anything you’d like me to write about in a future article, please let me know! Drop a comment below or email me – amy ‘at’ lifezemplified ‘dot’ com.

Happy New Year Amy. Great post. I try to focus on making small changes and monitor progress one day at a time. New Years resolutions seem too overwhelming to keep up.

One day or step at a time is a good thing and works well. Thanks and Happy New Year, Dave!

Happy New Year’s Amy 🙂 Hope 2018 is as great as 2017!

Ditto to you Erik! 🙂

Are you sure you can’t give me more money!?
Thank you for consolidating all of those posts into this post. I can’t wait to dive into them!
The health /gym resolutions are always funny to me. I used to work front desk at a gym and during January, and you would think that everyone in the world was committed to fitness. Then February came and you saw about 75% of the people in the gym then you did in January.
Keep up the great work and I look forward to reading your work in 2018!

Not this year anyway 🙂
So it is true! Thanks for stopping by, Sean. Happy 2018!

Hey Amy!
Thanks for putting together your articles in this one post — that’s what prompted me to click over to “Financial Freedom Tomorrow Begins With Your Choices Today.” That was an excellent post BTW!
I personally feel that New Year’s resolution is just a fad that comes and goes (like what you said… by the end of January, it dies down).
I find that it helps to see every day as a new start. I personally form “life resolutions” throughout the year instead of viewing it in terms of “new year’s resolutions.” But maybe that’s just me. What works for one person may not work for everyone 😀
Thanks for sharing this!
Happy New Year to you, Amy!

“Life resolutions” sounds great. And yes, that is so true, it’s all personal. 🙂 Thank you and Happy 2018!

I did not make those resolutions, I made one to dance like the funky kid in Charlie Brown Christmas. I searched for a blog post on that but alas, no help.
So breaking my resolution will be easy 🙂

I’ll be sure to get you that bourbon if the opportunity arises. 😉
Mrs. Groovy says
We just passed a 24/7 gym that was packed with people starting the weight loss thing early!
No resolutions here. Mr. G likes them and sticks with them but they don’t work for me. But each day is an opportunity to re-set, aspire to something new, or stop doing something that yields a negative experience,
Wishing you and John (and your family) a great new year!
Amy says
If only they would be there in six months. It’s good you know what works for you, Mrs. G. Some people keep making them even though they know they don’t help them.
Same to you and Mr. G! Cheers to 2018!

I gave up on New Year Resolutions years ago, now I just set goals whenever I feel a need to get motivated to get things done. It doesn’t have to be on January 1st!
Great post and Happy New Year!
Amy says
Thanks, Caroline, Happy New Year to you as well!

Funny. Since I wrote my post on resolutions, I’ve actually and quite seriously forgotten what they are. Whoopsie!!! Thanks for this, Amy. I needed a good reminder – but life will be a little easier when we’re finally guest-free, I’m over this bug, and the weather gets back to double digits!
Amy says
Thanks for making me smile. Sorry to hear you’ve not been feeling well. Wishing you wellness, warmth, some normalcy, and a great new year.

Happy New Year, Amy! I’ve been working to get up early so I can utilize the quiet, pre-toddler wake up mornings 🙂 I’m enjoying it so far! It is hard to get out of bed, but once out, I really enjoy the time to read, write, stretch/exercise, or just think.
Amy says
That’s great, Mrs. AR. These cold mornings must be tough. I’m already up at 5:30 for work and haven’t convinced myself yet to do any earlier. Glad it’s working for you. Happy New Year!
Mr. Groovy says
Hey, Amy. I’m giving up fast food and television this year. No more McDonald’s et al and Netflix and YouTube. Please pray for me! Haha. Thanks for the inspiration and the help. Best of luck in 2018. I’m sure you’re going to have a kick-ass year. Cheers.
Amy says
That’s wonderful, Mr. G! Sending you prayers and best wishes. 🙂 Thank you, sir, I’m sure as heck going to try!
